Ed is an accomplished saxophonist and an active player on the NY scene. Ed Jackson's dynamic sound encompasses both the tradition and future of jazz.
His versatility enables him to move within the various styles of jazz while at the same time maintaining a unique sound and direction.
Ed Jackson's wide range of styles is evident in the musicians he has worked and recorded with: Roy Haynes, George Cables, The Fatback Band, Melba Moore, Bobby Watson, T.S. Monk, Illinois Jacquet, Weldon Irvine, The Count Basie Band, Donald Blackman, Bernard Wright, Jaki Byard, Ran Blake, Sam Rivers,Ty Stephens and Souljaazz, and Tom Varner. He is also the founder of the world renowned 29th Street Saxophone Quartet, an internationally acclaimed group he has extensively recorded and toured with.
He also leads the Ed Jackson Quartet, which can be found performing regularly at his own NYC Jazz Club - Jackson Room. He is a graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and received the Selmer Company Award for Outstanding Saxophonist.
